As long as I can remember, I have loved making up little tunes and stories. Though I did not grow up in a “musical” family, I have always been a creative day-dreamer with deep thoughts and deep emotions. I soon grew to love how music can express both of these and how it communicates in a way that is beyond the reach of any other form. I like to think that my music is a blend of classic themes with meaningful lyrics and memorable hymn-like melodies that flow from the deep places of my soul to yours.
As soon as I began to learn how to actually “listen” to music, I was fascinated by the artistry of Bach and how he seamlessly wove melodies together into beautiful tapestries of sound, while my soul was drawn in by the passion of the melodies of Brahms, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. I learned from Bach how music can support and “feel” the meaning of the words by studying his exquisite St. Matthew’s Passion.
I also grew up singing wonderful hymns and experienced how music supports the truth of the words and helps to draw our hearts in to worship.
My goal as a songwriter is to tell the truth about who God says He is, while being honest about my own doubts and weaknesses in a way that encourages you in your own unique struggle toward humble and honest worship. I want to leave you with both memorable melodies and meaningful meditations.
